World's largest plane, Antonov An-225 Mriya, lands in Karachi

KARACHI: The world's largest cargo aircraft, Antonov AN -225 Mriya, made its first landing in Pakistan yesterday at the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi for refueling, Geo News quoted sources as saying on Friday.

Russian-made wide body aircraft is powered by six turbofan engines and is the longest and heaviest airplane ever built, with a maximum takeoff weight of 640 tonnes.

It also has the largest wingspan of any aircraft in operational service.

Saudi Ambassador, speaking during the ceremony said that educational institutions are best platforms for building strong brotherly relations among nations. He added that students from more than fifty nations are availing facility of knowledge here at IIUI which has become an international platform for students across the globe.
