General Qamar Javed Bajwa appointed Pakistan Army chief for another three years

ISLAMABAD: General Qamar Javed Bajwa has been appointed Pakistan Army chief for another three years. “General Qamar Javed Bajwa is appointed Chief of Army Staff for another term of three years from the date of completion of current tenure. The decision has been taken in view of the regional security environment,” said a notification from the office of Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday. A copy of the notification issued by PM office General Qamar Javed Bajwa was appointed Pakistan's Army chief in November 2016 by then-prime minister Nawaz Sharif. He took over command from former Army chief General (retd) Raheel Sharif. “This is a timely decision. The decision was taken in view of the present situation,” said analyst Muneeb Farooq, adding that the role of General Qamar Javed Bajwa had been significant.
